Nice to meet you

Roberta Macedo is a graphic designer from Rio de Janeiro and based in Miami (go Canes!).

 

Her work aims to solve problems, make change and add to a conversation while exploring more meaningful (and therefore more interesting) solutions.

 

She has experience with illustration, print design, branding, photo manipulation, interactive design and web design.

 

Each project  should open minds to new ideas.

Previous experiences

 Graphics Editor at The Miami Hurricane | Jan 2023 to May 2024

​

  • Illustrated more than 41 digital pieces for News, Arts and Entertainment and Opinion sections and oversaw the creation of more than 100 pieces for the graphics department of the newspaper

  • Created the cover of seven issues of The Miami Hurricane during the 3 semesters as graphics editor

  • Assigned different graphics to distinct members of the team and recruited new designers, increasing the team by 50%

  • Was a leader in the production of a Media Kit for the newspaper, which won 6th place at the Associate Collegiate Press Awards

  • Developed a new logo for V’s Take, one of the sections of the paper that is published on the last page as well as an alternative logo for the Newspaper

  • Received the "Always There for U" Staff Pick Award, "Design of the Year" (for The Transfer Portal graphic) and "Cover of the Year" (for the Medical Edition cover)

 President of Brazilian Students Association at UM | Aug 2022 to May 2024

  • Realized official gatherings or tabling events to accommodate and celebrate the Brazilian community at the University of Miami

  • Updated content on BRASA’s social media platforms, creating 13 distinct posts, and updated the official group chat informing members about important opportunities and events on campus

  • Consolidated a speaker and networking event for BRASA members and representatives of BTG Pactual, one of the largest investment banks in Brazil

  • Led meetings with the e-board to brainstorm ideas for following events and execute them throughout the semesters

 Freelance at Frost Band of the Hour | July 2023 to March 2024

  • Developed a series of 5 flyers related to the distinct programs and events of the band, such as the "Hurricanettes" dance group, the Color Guard, the Pep Band, the "Minicamp" band camp, and the Band of the Hour

  • The flyers will continue to be used by the Band of the Hour on the following years

  • Utilized the University of Miami communication together with Band imagery to connect both entities

  • Submitted biweekly notes of the ARH131Q Survey of Western Art I course and of the Modern Art course to the University of Miami Accommodate platform during the Spring 2022 / Spring 2024 terms - 60 community service each semester

  • Illustrated 17 digital pieces for the newspaper’s Arts & Entertainment and opinion sections that were published online or printed alongside the articles

  • Wrote a story featuring the 2022 Miami Book Fair for the Arts & Entertainment section

  • Created and signed the design of two pages of the Summer and Fall 2022 issues of the magazine

  • Organized and delivered Spring and Summer 2022 issues across campus
